Ümit Barış Kutman

Ümit Barış Kutman, Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi Biyoteknoloji Enstitüsü’nde Dr. Öğretim Üyesidir; Bitki Biyoteknolojisi, Fizyolojisi ve Besleme Laboratuvarı’nı yönetir ve Enstitü Müdür Yardımcılığı görevini yürütür. Lisans (2005) ve doktora (2010) eğitimini Sabancı Üniversitesi Biyolojik Bilimler ve Biyomühendislik programında tamamladı. Buğdayda azot ve çinko beslenmesi arasındaki etkileşimi konu alan doktora çalışması biyofortifikasyon literatüründe yaygın olarak atıf alır. GTÜ’ye katılmadan önce Konya Gıda ve Tarım Üniversitesi’nde ve University of California, Davis’te çalıştı.

Araştırmaları bitkilerin mineral beslenmesini, çinko ile azot etkileşimlerini, bitkilerin biyofortifikasyonunu, abiyotik stres toleransını, mikoriza ve kök endofitlerini kapsar. Laboratuvar son yıllarda bitki beslemenin verim ve kalitenin ana kaldıracı olduğu topraksız ve dikey tarım alanında da çalışmaktadır.
