Visit to Plant Factory's İstinyePark vertical farm with the GTÜ rector

Gebze Technical University (GTÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mandal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Işıl Aksan Kurnaz and our PIs, Asst. Prof. Ümit Barış Kutman and Asst. Prof. Bahar Yıldız Kutman, visited Plant Factory’s İstinyePark facility, the world’s first vertical farm built inside a shopping mall, together with some of our students.

The facility grows produce without soil or pesticides and uses far less water than conventional farming. The GTÜ Institute of Biotechnology carries out R&D with Plant Factory, under university-industry cooperation, to develop technologies and methods for vertical farming.
