Nordik biosensor project we co-advise receives TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1507 support

A project submitted to the TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1507 programme by Nordik Kozmetik ve Bitkisel Ürünler San. Tic. Ltd. Şti., the startup of GTÜ Institute of Biotechnology PhD students Burcu Taluğ Taştan and Ömer Faruk Taştan, has been approved for funding. The project is titled “Development of a LAMP-Based Portable, Scalable Biosensor Platform for In-Situ Detection of Cmm and TYLCV Pathogens”.
It will be advised by Prof. Dr. Elif Damla Arısan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihan Aydemir, Asst. Prof. Ümit Barış Kutman of our lab and Dr. Murat Çiçekli, with Yüksel Tohum, Gazişehir Enerji and Mavruz Modern Tarım as industry partners. The project will develop a smartphone-based biosensor platform, supported by AI image analysis, that detects Cmm and TYLCV, two pathogens that cause serious yield and quality losses in tomato, in the greenhouse and the field within 30 to 60 minutes.
