Burak Tunçbaş, a PhD student in our lab, presented a poster at the Nitrogen 2026 symposium, held on 23 to 27 August 2026 in Gatersleben, Germany. The study showed that a urea-loaded biodegradable polymer raised nitrogen use efficiency 2.6-fold under drought, and that performance was decided by how fast the polymer released urea.

Poster: A Novel Urea-Loaded Biodegradable Superabsorbent Polymer Improves Nitrogen Use Efficiency and Protects Wheat Yield under Leaching and Terminal Drought. Burak Tunçbaş, Yeşim Menceloğlu Zorbacı, Merve Senem Seven, Serap Hayat Soytaş, Yusuf Ziya Menceloğlu and Ümit Barış Kutman.

Participants also visited the research infrastructure of the host institute, IPK.
