Our university GTÜ signs a protocol with MANAKİN on smart farming automation

The Smart Agriculture Research and Application Center (ATAM) of Gebze Technical University (GTÜ) and MANAKİN, a company based at METU Technopolis (ODTÜ Teknokent), signed a cooperation protocol in the field of “Automation and Biotechnology”. GTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammed Hasan Aslan, GTÜ-ATAM Director Prof. Dr. Yelda Özden Çiftçi and MANAKİN founding partners Çağdaş Kızak and İhsan Öztürk attended the signing.

The aim of the protocol is to develop domestic smart automation systems for vertical and soilless farming, and in particular to cut the cost of vertical farming so that the method can spread in Türkiye. Under the protocol, MANAKİN will install the automation product from its R&D work at the LED-Supported Vertical Farming Laboratory (LAVFARM) on the GTÜ campus, covering nutrient dosing, lighting control, and EC and pH control.
